Ceramic implants are opening a totally new frontier for dental implant practices that are serving patients with highly esthetic demands, looking for a metal free teeth replacement solution or who simply will not or cannot tolerate metals in their body or oral cavity. As it has been described in the literature, gingival response, soft tissue adaptation and bone integration to zirconia is optimal and has been proven to be superior to that seen around conventional dental implants and abutments. Ceramic implants today come in the one-piece monobloc and two-piece configuration and by virtue of zirconia’s surface characteristics and lack of electrical activity, they do not allow for plaque accumulation around the abutment or galvanic activity in the oral environment. This lecture will present a wide range of clinical cases that demonstrate the versatility of zirconia ceramic dental implants and how they fill a long standing void in dental implantology.
The IAOCI is a media partner of this world congress and Dr. Noumbissi in his role as the President of the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology (IAOCI) has been invited to be a keynote speaker at BIT’s 1st International Conference on Oral and Dental Health. His lecture will present a wide range of clinical cases that demonstrate the versatility zirconia ceramic dental implants and how they fill a long standing void in dental implantology. This congress will take place in Haikou, China from November 13 to 16, 2014. Dr. Noumbissi will be presenting some of the most recent updates and clinical research in zirconia ceramic implantology. The title of the presentation is: All Zirconia Dental Implants: Filling a Void in Implant Dentistry. For more information on this conference please follow this link: http://www.bitcongress.com/
Drs. Sammy Noumbissi and Ralf Luettmann from Hamburg, Germany will conduct a four-country educational tour of the Balkans during which zirconia bioceramics in dental implantology will be introduced to the members of the Macedonian Dental Society in Skopje, the American University of Tirana in Albania, the University Dentistry Clinical Center of Kosovo and in Montenegro.
All interested should follow the links above and inquire with the associations and institutions directly. The dates for each event are as follows:
1) October 17, 2014: 1st International Implantology Conference hosted by University Dental Clinical Centre of Kosovo in Pristina. The theme of this Conference is “Metal free lmplant Dentistry-The Zirconia Challenge”.

Zirconia Implants: Filling a Void in Implant Dentistry
This course is lead by Drs. Sammy Noumbissi and Ralf Luettmann. It is designed to give clinicians the ability to understand zirconia as a material and the rationale for using bioceramics in implant dentistry. This course will provide training on one-piece zirconia dental implants. An emphasis will be placed on appropriate case selection, case planning, flap design, immediate or delayed zirconia implant placement, temporization methods and minor adjunctive bone grafting procedures. This program is a combination of in-depth lecture, video surgery and hands-on over the shoulder workshop with models on immediate and delayed metal-free implantation. During the hands on training part of this course participants will utilize all components of a zirconia surgical kit and will place zirconia implants in plastic mandibles. This is the closest thing to performing live surgery! Read more….
Under the leadership of our founding president Dr. Sammy Noumbissi, the IAOCI held its winter congress Miami, Florida, this January. In attendance were delegates from 11 states in the USA, the UK, France, Japan, Germany, Spain, Jamaica, Canada, and Switzerland!
Our world-renowned and expert speakers included Drs. Elizabeth Valentine-Thon, Dan Hagi, Josep Oliva, Sammy Noumbissi, Andrea Mombelli, Stephen Evans, Ralf Luettmann, Judson Wall, Noriaki Honma, Mr. Taylor Hunter from Aurum Dental Laboratories and Mr. Jared Young from Big Diastema Marketing.
We want to thank Z-Systems USA, Ceraroot Implants, Aurum Dental Laboratories, Albensi Dental Laboratories, Zeramex Ceramic Implants, Lasers for Dentistry and TAV ceramic Implants for their gracious support.
We are now beginning to go through the 48 hours of video footage we recorded and will soon be making those DVDs available to anyone interested in learning more about Zirconia Dental implants.
If you weren’t able to make it this year, you won’t want to miss next year’s event! This year featured one of the best curricula ever for a dental implant event and the information shared was bar-none. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible!
This course is designed to provide the clinician with the ability to confidently integrate one-piece zirconia dental implantology in his/her practice. This will be achieved by means of lectures, over the shoulder hands-on sessions on models as well as live surgery and restorative demonstrations. The lecture material will cover zirconia as a dental implant material, patient examination, case selection and the use of advanced treatment planning modalities for both surgical and prosthetic aspects of zirconia dental implants. Soft Tissue and bone management when placing and restoring zirconia implants will also be covered.
This course will enable you to:
- Recognize indications for successful placement of zirconia dental implants.
- Identify the prosthetic need for site preparation and/or preservation.
- Differentiate indications for different temporization techniques.
- Utilize CBCT (cone Beam CT scan) and virtual implant planning software to increase case success.
- Appropriate selection of permanent restorative materials.
